RCP Reno patio & Rosetta Belvedere fire pit
Woodbury, MN
A beautiful deck staircase that led to nothing but grass. Not anymore.
James had everything going for him in his Woodbury backyard — a beautifully fenced yard, mature trees, a great 2nd story deck. The staircase from that deck led down to... grass. Which is fine. But why walk off a deck onto something that doesn't match the moment?
James didn't want a standard patio with a standard fire pit. He wanted a statement. Heritage Outdoors had been carrying a design concept in our back pocket — a circle-within-a-square layout with a bold accent border that we'd been waiting for the right yard and the right customer to build it. James was that customer.
He chose Heritage Outdoors over three other bids. Not on price — on design. We were as excited as he was to finally bring this one to life.
Measure once. Measure twice. Take a step back. Measure again.
Getting a circle to sit perfectly centered within a square patio — and have it align seamlessly with the straight field pavers running to both edges — is one of the more demanding layout challenges in paver work.
The center point has to be established first and every measurement works outward from there. The circle accent border has cuts on both the inside and outside radius — there's no shortcut around it. We measured, stepped back, questioned ourselves, and measured again. We weren't sure it was going to land until the Smooth Onyx accent pavers started going in and the circle started to reveal itself.
When it clicked — and it did — it was one of those moments on a job site where the crew just stops and looks. That's the feeling you're building toward.

Base prepped. Pavers going down. The design coming to life.
The Bobcat T190 handled excavation and base prep — grading the area flat and compacting the aggregate base before a single paver touched the ground. Once the base was right, the field pavers went in first, with the Smooth Onyx circle border and Rosetta fire pit following as the centerpiece came together.

RCP Reno Cascade. Smooth Onyx circle. Rosetta Belvedere at the center.
The finished patio is exactly the statement James wanted — a circle-within-a-square layout anchored by the Rosetta Belvedere fire pit, framed by the bold Smooth Onyx accent border, and surrounded by the cool gray field of RCP Reno in Cascade. From the deck above, from the yard, from the gate — it reads as a designed space, not just a patio.

Paver patio questions we hear all the time
How much does a paver patio cost in Woodbury MN?
Paver patios with Heritage Outdoors start at $35 per square foot installed and can range into the $50+ range depending on paver brand, pattern complexity, and base preparation. Complex designs with circle features, accent borders, and fire pit integration will be toward the higher end. Heritage Outdoors has a $5,000 project minimum and always provides a free on-site estimate.
What is RCP Reno paver?
RCP Reno is a concrete paver by Rochester Concrete Products, a Minnesota-based manufacturer. The Reno line features a rectangular format with a smooth face with the durability of engineered concrete. It's available in multiple colors including Cascade — a blend of light and dark grays that pairs beautifully with the deep contrast of Smooth Onyx.
What is the Rosetta Belvedere fire pit?
The Rosetta Belvedere is a manufactured stone fire pit kit designed to look like natural dry-stacked stone. It uses cast concrete pieces that fit together without mortar to create a circular fire pit with a refined, architectural appearance. It pairs exceptionally well with paver patios and circle accent features.
How do you design a paver patio with a circle fire pit feature?
Getting a circle feature to align perfectly with a square or rectangular patio perimeter requires precise layout from the center point outward. The center of the circle has to be calculated so the accent rings land symmetrically and the straight field pavers flow cleanly to the edge. It takes multiple measurements, a lot of patience, and cuts on both the inside and outside of the accent border — but when it comes together, it's one of the most striking patio designs you can build.
