Steps & Stoop Installation
Minneapolis–Saint Paul
The last thing you see leaving.
The first thing coming home.
A front stoop is the entry point to your home. Every single day, it's the last thing you see when you leave and the first thing you see when you come back. Most homeowners spend years walking past a crumbling concrete stoop or a rotting timber step system without realizing how much that first impression shapes how the whole property feels.
A well-built stoop or set of steps does two things: it works correctly for decades without heaving, cracking, or shifting, and it looks like it belongs. That second part matters more than people expect. The right material, the right proportions, the right connection to the walkway or patio — done well, it looks like it was always there.
We build steps and stoops in a wide range of materials — natural stone, manufactured block with paver caps, cut boulders, and custom combinations depending on what the property calls for. Every project is different. We'll tell you what we'd build and why during the free site visit.

Both done right.
Steps and stoops are related but different projects. Here's how we approach each — and how they often work together as a single connected entry system.
What steps & stoops cost
in the Twin Cities
Steps are priced per step. Stoops are priced by project based on size, materials, and site conditions. Here's how to think about it before we step on your property.
* Steps and stoops are often combined with walkway or patio projects — material and base work can frequently be done in a single mobilization, which improves efficiency and keeps costs down. Ask us about combining projects during the site visit. $5,000 project minimum on all work.

Steps & stoop questions
we hear all the time
How much do natural stone or wet cast steps cost in Minnesota?
Wet cast and natural stone steps in Minnesota typically run $250–$500 per step installed, depending on stone type, step size, site conditions, and whether a landing or wall integration is included. Larger steps, specialty stone, or difficult site access push toward the higher end. Heritage Outdoors has a $5,000 project minimum and always provides a free on-site estimate with transparent pricing.
How much does a paver stoop cost in Minnesota?
Paver stoop cost depends on the size of the landing, number of steps, materials, and whether the existing stoop requires demolition and removal. Most residential front entry stoop replacements in the Twin Cities fall in the $5,000–$12,000 range. Heritage Outdoors provides a free on-site estimate with line-item pricing before any work begins.
What is the difference between a stoop and steps?
Steps are individual risers that move you from one grade level to another. A stoop is a landing platform at a door entry — typically elevated above grade — that may include steps leading up to it. Most front entry projects involve both: a stoop landing at the door and steps descending to the walkway or grade. Heritage Outdoors builds both as a connected system.
How are paver stoops built?
A paver stoop is built with a retaining wall block body — typically manufactured block — that forms the structure and riser faces. The landing surface and step caps are paver units that match or complement the walkway or patio material. This approach gives you the structural integrity of engineered block with the finished appearance of pavers on every surface you see and walk on.
How long do stone steps and paver stoops last in Minnesota?
Natural stone and wet cast steps can last for generations with minimal maintenance — stone doesn't crack under freeze-thaw stress the way concrete does. Paver stoops built on a proper block body with good drainage should last for decades without structural issues. The most common failure point on older stoops is a poor base or inadequate drainage, not the materials themselves. Heritage Outdoors builds with drainage and frost depth in mind on every entry project.
Do steps and stoops require a permit in Minnesota?
Permit requirements vary by municipality. Structural entry stoops — particularly those connected to the home's foundation — may require a permit in some Twin Cities suburbs. Heritage Outdoors always checks requirements for your specific property before work begins.
