Firepit patio, sod & garden beds
Summit Hill, Saint Paul MN
The yard Allie always wanted. Finally done.
Phase 1 gave Allie a raised patio and the access that made everything else possible. Phase 2 was about completing the vision — a place to gather around a fire with her kids on a cool fall night, a lawn big enough for soccer, and gardens that looked beautiful without demanding her weekends.
Haven led the design from the start, keeping Allie's lifestyle front and center. Busy career. Young kids. No time for high-maintenance gardening. The plant selections are simple, timeless, and proven — they bring color and privacy to the yard without requiring constant attention. Beautiful boulder edging ties the beds together and gives the whole yard a natural, finished character.
The firepit patio anchors the lower yard — a 14-foot Willow Creek circle kit in Lakeshore blend with a Versa-Lok fire ring at the center. The fresh sod wraps everything together, giving the kids exactly what they needed: room to run.
An overgrown hill. A yard waiting to happen.
Before Phase 1 even began, this is what the hillside looked like — overgrown vegetation, a deteriorated old stone wall, and no usable outdoor space. Two phases later, it's a completely different property.

Design for the life she actually lives
Every decision in Phase 2 was made with one question in mind: what does Allie actually need from this yard? Haven's answers drove every choice — from the firepit location to the plant selections to the amount of lawn.
"Allie knew what she wanted — a yard her kids could live in and a space she could actually enjoy without spending every weekend maintaining it. Haven designed exactly that. When we finished Phase 2, we left behind a yard that fit their family perfectly. That's the job."

A completely made-over yard. Built for their family.
Two phases. One cohesive yard. A raised patio off the house, a firepit circle in the lower yard, fresh sod rolling between them, and boulder-edged gardens wrapping the perimeter. Allie has exactly what Haven designed — a yard her family can actually live in.

Firepit patio & landscape questions we hear often
What is a Willow Creek circle kit firepit patio?
A Willow Creek circle kit is a pre-engineered paver system designed specifically for circular patio installations. The pavers are cut and sized to create perfect concentric rings, eliminating the complex field cutting required for a custom circular layout. The 14-foot Lakeshore blend kit used on this Summit Hill project features warm tan and charcoal tones with a double border ring for a finished, polished look.
How much does a firepit patio cost in Saint Paul MN?
A circular firepit patio in the Twin Cities typically runs $35–$50+ per square foot installed, plus the cost of the fire ring itself. A 14-foot circle kit patio with a Versa-Lok fire ring is a mid-range project that delivers an exceptional outdoor gathering space. Heritage Outdoors has a $5,000 project minimum. We always provide a free on-site estimate.
What plants work best for low-maintenance garden beds in Minnesota?
For low-maintenance Saint Paul garden beds, Heritage Outdoors favors simple, timeless perennials and shrubs that provide color and privacy without demanding constant attention. Selections depend on sun exposure, soil conditions, and the homeowner's aesthetic preferences. Haven works with each client to choose plants that fit their lifestyle — for Allie, that meant easy-care plants that look great without requiring weekend maintenance time.
What is boulder edging for garden beds?
Boulder edging uses natural rounded fieldstone boulders to define the border between garden beds and lawn. It's one of Heritage Outdoors' favorite edging treatments — it looks natural, holds its shape without shifting, requires zero maintenance, and fits the Minnesota landscape beautifully. Unlike plastic or metal edging, boulder edging gets better with age and adds genuine character to the yard.
